I raised all my weights by 5 lbs, successfully except for one I could only do 13 reps on in my second set (on all the others i did 2 sets of 20 reps). Getting stronger!
That's good, Sarah Hayward.

Doing 5k (3 miles) on the treadmill in under 30 mins which is good for me
That's good, Sarah Hayward
I've been eating too much cake lately.
I swam for exercise today.
It's good that you lost weight, Sarah Hayward. You are doing great exercise.
I lost 5 lbs in the first month of dieting and running 3-4 times a week. I go to the gym every day, doing weights every other day. The improvement in my running is what I care more about than weight loss although weight loss would be nice too.
I have been eating out a lot the past two weeks. I did cook tonight.
Sarah Hayward, it is good that you joined a gym.
Thank you anne627. I intend to use it a lot this winter.
Just joined a gym today for $10 a month. Took a tour, lots of treadmills. I'm running every day now and want to keep it up over the winter. Also allover toning with the weight machines.
Good luck, Sarah Hayward. Giving up desserts is hard.
I'm also going to give up desserts at least for August. I spent more than $60 on desserts in July. With any luck I'll lose some weight in the first month--10 lbs would be nice but is probably optimistic. No fancy diet just cutting back on unnecessary food.
Sarah Hayward, I agree that starting is the hardest part. You have to motivate yourself.
Sarah Hayward, it is good that you started running for exercise again.
Thanks Anne627, starting is the hardest part. Once you're over that hurdle it gets easier.

The occasional hamburger bun okay, mostly cakes and pies I'm giving up. For the most part I don't eat bread.
Yes, celsius anne627 should probably have made that clear.
Trying to give up baked goods for the summer, people keep giving me sweets like cokes and lindt chocolate and a butter tart
Above post probably spam.

I am able to eat calcium every day and still take supplements.
I have to eat a lot of calcium since I had parathyroid surgery. Outside of ice cream, I usually don't eat much dairy. I've been trying to eat it.
I have to eat a lot of calcium for a while. I have lactose intolerance, but I can eat cheese and ice cream. I get tired eating a lot of it.

I went to the pool today.
I swam for exercise today.
I have been watching my carbs more while eating out.
lindavdz77,I also have food intolerances, especially to a lot of healthy foods like milk and whole wheat. I like these thin cookies called Mrs. Tates that aren't sold all over.
Yesterday I walked a long way through a parc I always came when I lived close to it. It felt like home. So many food steps there since I was fifteen. Then I walked to the nature food store. I bought a lot of special cookies and cake there. In the normal store they have not much choice for me because of my food intolerances.
I " planned " to take 3 months to ate all. But that was not very realistic. Ha ha.
Now I realise I have been very bored with eating the same cookies in the supermarkt close to our house over and over again.........
I swam for exercise today.
I walked a lot today.
I cooked turkey wings tonight for dinner.
Eating out tonight again, but cooking tomorrow.

I am glad you enjoyed :-)
I ate too much yesterday!
That' s one of the pleasant things from christmas or not Anne....?
I walked at the beach today.
I am trying to snack less.
"Breakfast like a king lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper" this is my diet mantra, important to have a various diet, different food, I try to limit foods with saturated fats. Remember to read always the ingredients tab. Exercise everyday, at least a 30" fast walk.
I walked today for exercise.
I ate way too much on Thanksgiving Day, I ate a lot less today,
I walked today near the house.
I swam at the pool today for a long time.
I danced today outside when " Sinterklaas" came in the Netherlands. It' s a kids party. It was fun. And I also danced at home at good music.
That sounds scenic and fun, lindavdz77.
I biked on Sunday to the city. All though it was cold. It gave me freedom biking along the big fields next to the river.
I went swimming today.
I walked in the mall today.
I swam for exercise today.
Godiva came out with little chocolate pieces that I'd like to try.
The chocolate sounds good, lindavdz77.
Tony Chocolonely it' s called.
I discovered last years chair yoga is good for older people but also for younger. You can do it everywhere, you only need a chair. So to all the people who work much at an office (for example) it's an idea to try it.
Oh my God, this week I am addicted to lactofree pure chocolate with almonds and sea salt. I really can't stop after two normal pieces. When I eat the normal 70 % pure it's easy.......
I am normally not a sugar addict.....but this chocolate. Oh.....Well live is to enjoy or not ?
I walked today.
I made fish for dinner tonight,
I went for a walk today.
I started cooking again with less salt.
I also think it is better, not too much salt.
I gained a few lbs. since I left NJ. I hope it is water weight from salt.
I walked a lot today.
Today I bought and ate vegan walnut cheese. It is made of fermented walnuts. It was self made by someone at the market I organised.
I also ate vegan indian food. So I had a vegan day. Ooo and I bought vegan ballerina shoes....not to eat of course
Tasty! I sometimes eat supper at the sikh temple by my place and they serve vegetarian curries.
I did a lot of bending and some lifting today.
I walked a lot today.
I walked on the boardwalk at the beach today.
I've been eating too much cake lately.
lindavdz77 I have to eat lots of snacks throughout the day. Trail mix in your pocket so you can snack on the go.
I love "Nakd" They have vegan chocolate bars without sugar. First I bought them one by one. Now I discovered the supermarket has them. 4 in a box ! I really have to buy new ones. More and more opportunities for people who are intolerant for wheat and lactose the last years ! I love it !
Something else.
I don' t like to overeat soja. I know someone in the family of my partner who works in the farmbussines. It is most of the time genitically modified. Developed in mass for animalfood. Very difficult to get it really pure. I do eat it sometimes at my work when its fermented. Tempeh.
lindavdz77, help them, and then eat your own meal. You will feel more relaxed if you do that, and will be able to digest without rushing.
Yeah thanks Anne, I really have to plan it different. The thing is I have a quick burning system. So I can ' t wait till 1 o clock. So I will plan a break before twelve. Or I get dizzy etc.....
I don' t like to be busy while eating. This happens at my work where I have to help people whit eating. And it was always o.k. But since I have intestinal complaints I wonder if it is good for my digestion to be so busy! To much blood to the brain and maybe not enough blood to the belly.....
Man_to_the_Dre_to_the_double_L_hey_meow, that sounds like a fun workout.
It is a fun workout for both my mind & body.
Man_to_the_Dre_to_the_double_L_hey_meow that's great.
I have been able to play a drumset at a studio! I've played twice & really surprised myself at how well I am able to keep the beat to the music. My progression from the first time to the second time I played was excellent. I was able to figure out some beats I was having trouble with. Playing is such a good workout & it also does wonders for my anxiety. I feel like I am the person I'm supposed to be when I play!
I biked to the playground and there I played, climbed etc. The restaurant was closed for visitors because there was a special party. They did sell ice creams. So we ate two of them. I was happy they had one without milksugar because of my intolerance for lactose.
I walked in the mall today.
I walked in a large supermarket today.
Biked a lot this week to my work. The weather was fine. I like the quiet bicycle path next to the river with a lot of green.
I went to the pool this morning.

I met a girl at a show earlier in the week. She suggested I read this. I found a free PDF online and finished it Thursday afternoon. After work Thursday I ended up hiking up Burnaby Mountain in the dark with no flashlight. I saw a few falling stars and appreciated the beauty and quiet of the night. I paid attention to the energy flowing around me & when I entered the paths into the forest I could really sense the change in energy. My journey brought me to the top where SFU is located. I got to enjoy the beauty of the sunrise before having to head into work for the day. Totally worth staying up for!
I biked a lot this week. Today I danced on Bob Marley when I selected to little clothes from my son.....
I am going out for a walk soon.
Man_to_the_Dre_to_the_double_L_hey_meow, dancing is good exercise and fun.
Danced all night to some great live music! Go Wett Stilettoa

When I am biking in nature I feel free. It gives space. I like the view looking around.
drjarnecke2, there is no medical proof that eating for your blood type works. It is good that your mom was cured.
Eating for your bloodtype sure helps ! I have type O negative.......
This is the base of the other bloodtypes. It' s the oldest blood type. That means old scool food for me.....
My mother is also type O! She won't donate blood though as she is terrified of needles.
Eating right for your blood type plus a few other herbs and oils is how my mother cured her unknown horrific skin condition, and thyroid disease is pretty much completely cured I believe. Tumeric powder, and a couple few other things she uses. Minerals are Essential; Essential minerals.
I walked on the boardwalk yesterday and today in the neighborhood.
Ha ha ha Man to the huppeldepup........
Yes and who knows I have also air in my brains.......ha ha ha.....
I went to the sauna. In the swimming pool I put my feet on the rail and easily keep floating. After 14 years I made my own yoga-water- meditation. I feel no fear of sinking and it feels special to relax on the water like this. I see many people try to copy me. They sink......
Sometimes I can' t help thinking.... do I have some kind of a magical body ? Well, it helps I am light, thin bones and I have done this many times. In the beginning I had to move my arms a bit and breath deep in my belly. Now this is not neccesary any more...........
For fun I made all kind of difficult movements with my arms and only when I rotate my back very much I sink.
Don't forget women come equipped with two buoyant pillows attached to us lol
I have discovered a new simple but delicious snack. Cut & peel a ripe avacado squeeze some lemon & lime juice then sprinkle with salt & pepper.
I walked in the mall.
Going for an early morning longboard
I've been walking to the drive & back after work this week. I started meditating twice a day meow.
I walked in the mall today.
swam today.
Had a long walk this afternoon.
I'm just starting out from being extremely ill for the past 10 years. I'm off all my medications which kept me in a low energy state. I am working my way towards being able to carry a heavy backpack. I also want to get involved with Martial Arts and AcroYoga. One day I hope to have my own drum set as I discovered that I am a drummer. My body naturally does the motions I've just never been behind a real set. I have muscian friends who tell me I can keep a beat. As a child I wanted to play music but my parents couldn't afford band and when I tried to learn the piano my teacher told me I wasn't allowed to take lessons anymore because I refused to play in front of people. I was so scared of making a mistake. How silly of me
Man_To_The_Dre, that is good exercise.
I walk 3-6km a day usually but I also go on epic 10-20 km long walks around Vancouver several times a month. I also started to go to Wreck beach and climbing those stairs at the end of the day if making my ass fantASStic
I walked today.
I run after my son this morning, who was biking hard and not in a straight line :-)
I walked back to my work when I forgot my walet. Somebody at my work said: When you don' t use your brain you have to use your feet. Ha ha ha, maybe an idea for people who want more movement: don' t use your brain ;-)
I bought n corn and peaches at an apple orchard. They are good.
I walked a lot yesterday.
I've been reading out too much lately.
And I was to late at this website. :-)
Last week I draw a lot of Zentangles and drawings inspirated by the Zentangle technique. It' s easy & meditative. You can do it everywhere. I am an addict now. ;-)
I went to the pool today.
I walked a lot today.
We went swimming. It was a lot of fun.
I had fish for dinner today.
I walked a lot today in NY.
I walked a lot today.
I went to Weight Watchers today. My weight was about the same.
I cut down on carbs today.
I walked a lot today.
It is a wonderful fact that human beings function in three fields. The material body is just one.
( from website chakrainstitute.com)
I didn't overeat too much this holiday weekend.
samanthashine15, I hope the veggies come out good from recipes in this magazine.
I prefer more veggies in my diet and found a magazine called Veggie Full-its kind of expensive at $10, but the food looks so good, kind of like food porn!
I didn't know that every disease has a sound.
I didn' t know too, but could imagine it. But to make it simple......there are mantra' s for your whole body and soul. ........ :-) :-) :-)
It is Anne, he also told about the therapy. For every disease etc. there is a sound. In the yoga tradition it seems that they now this for thousand(s) of years......
lindavdz77, sound yoga sounds interesting.
Today somebody at my work did "sound- yoga" with some people, including me. It was the first time and it was a succes. Amazing to make different sounds and sing some mantra' s and to feel the effects at the chakra' s (in a group)
jackofclubs, that sounds like a very nice trip.
It was. You see a lot of a country by taking the bicycle instead of a car. Netherlands is perfect for that. They have bike paths all over the country and in every city so you don't get in trouble with cars - cause you are always separated from the motorized traffic.
Another great thing for those who love pasta: You can eat as much as you want. It's never enough when you are riding long distances every day :-)
Leaving for the Netherlands. Travelling by bicycle. 5 days, 100 miles each day.
I ate out lunch and am eating out dinner today. I don't like to eat out so much, but I did.
I took a long walk today.
I am trying to eat less carbs.
I walked again today.
I took a walk today.
krnichette, good for you, trying to keep healthy!
100% VEGAN! Feeling Great! 45 yrs. old, outside as much as I possibly can be (alot more since moving from CT to FL)! Swim, bike, run, walk...At least one of these every day. Try to eat organic whenever possible. Cook/make the majority of my own meals at home. Grow lots of my veggies in my 8x4' raised bed in our community garden. Smile alot, be kind, LOVE you Children and teach them well. Offer a "Good Morning"! to everyone I walk by (yes, that includes my homeless) neighbors...Never judge a person by their appearance cause most times you'd be wrong. Live by a possitive moto... "Be the change that you want to see in the world"! You get....What you give. It's simply the law of attraction, but it works! Peace....
I took a walk today,

There is this old Dutch saying, april does what it' s wants.....
jackofclubs, too bad you had bad weather on Easter.
It's getting worse... started to snow yesterday :-( Same weather as it was when I saw the Chili Peppers last November. What a long winter!
Easter holidays in Germany. Wanted to ride my bicycle. Got rain-drenched on friday. Got rain-drenched on saturday. Got rain-drenched on monday.
Ha ha ha. Tell me when then I buy bigger clothes or I put my old pregnancy clothes on.......... .
lindavdz77, I'l donate some to you, lol.
People who want to loose some weight can donate it to me. Just joking a little bit.......... :-)
But serious, It' s always been difficult for me to get more weight.
And it' s " funny " how many people think that I don' t eat much because I am thin.............
It ' s the same as thinking that all the people who are thick eat much......
It is both not true !
I walked today.
I will try and watch what I eat this weekend.
I walked in a mall again today.
The temperatures in Germany have dropped again. Going to lift some weights today instead of riding the bicycle.
I will walk in a mall today.
jackofclubs, I have a lot of trouble posting here.
Hi anne627 Unfortunatley my answer about the German weather got deleted twice. Don't know why.
I walked a lot in a mall today.
I swam today. I love it when it is warm and I don't feel cold coming out of the pool.
Last Saturday it was 20° C. That's 68 °F. Unfortunately the temperatures dropped again and it's chilly now for the rest of the week.
Last saturday it was 20° C = 68°F in Germany. But unfortunately the temperatures have dropped again and now it's chilly.
Used the first warm day here in Germany this year for a 5 hours road bike trip yesterday.
How warm was it today in Germany?
I swam in the pool today. It was nice and warm here, in the 80's today.
Yes I do, thanks anne 627.
I hope you feel better, lindavdz77.
This week my dietician told me it' s "definitive" I have irritable bowel syndrome. We tested food, now it' s " definitive" I couldn' t eat wheat
. And also no milk sugar. For me it helped seeing the acupuncturist, she also cleaned my system with natural medicine and now I have special vitamins and minerals.

I gained a pound this week. I think I ate out too much this week.
I haven't been on my diet the past few days.
My weight is the same this week as last week.
jenavanhna, food high in fat and carbs eaten occasionally won't kill you, but every day isn't a great idea.
A healthy balance of good and bad food. I sprinkle those cheeseburgers in all the while eating clean super clean. Unless I got the munchies then it's just e eruthing in my kitchen
I ate out too much the past two days.
When u choose to hate bad things happen when u choose to love good things happen rattlesnake good people whould be happy but the bad people whouldnt be happy cobra venom non loxoury feel olympic

I am trying to eat healthy at home today.
I lost 6 lbs. in the past 3 weeks.
Yes, it is good for all of us. I've tried Skinny Pop popcorn. It's quite good.
I really like it.
I took Skinny Pop popcorn to the movies today. It has less fat and less salt on it.
We have to reduce oil and salt, because my dad's been having heart problems.
That would be good for your whole family too.
It really is. When I eat at home, I don't eat that much. I eat more when I eat out. I think it's because when you eat out, you get bigger portions, and it's so good you want to eat more. Plus, I discovered photatoes. It's cauliflower made to taste like mashed potatoes. They're amazing.
I ate cauliflower mashed potatoes, but didn't like it. I cook with less oil and salt at home.
We're trying to eat better. I'm not going to eat out anymore....except on special occasions.
Yes, it s easier to control what you eat when eating home.
It seems that I have won the challenge of who can lose the most weight before New Year's. I'm the only one in the family who has lost any weight. I lost ten pounds.
That's great, rhcpluv1991. I hope your family follows your good example.
Oprah ws on Dr. Oz today, discussing her weight loss and struggles to lose weight. It was interesting.
I'm cutting back and trying to eat clean with less processed food. It's hard to diet because your mind is set at I can't have this that etc,
I'm cutting my portions and eating less starch. I'm not a sweet eater so that helps.
niandra, it is good that you don't crave sweets. I hope you succeed with your change in eating plan.
Italian food tonight, help!
Trying to watch what I am eating this weekend.
I ate a lot less today than I did all weekend.

I've never had olive oil on toast, but I have had cinnamon toast. I hope it keeps on helping you avoid colds.
I took a walk today.
I am having chicken and salad tonight for dinner.
Scientist discovered that fat is important for your brain. There is a link between taken too less good fat and dementia. The food industry hires their own scientists :-) But I can tell you magarines are not good for you. Everything with too many fabric processes are not good for you. With everything you are gone eat you should ask yourself: Is this something that my grandfather and grandmother have eaten or not?
lindavdz77, yes, we do need some fat for our bodies to function properly.
I made stuffed pork chops with lower calorie ingredients today.

rocket63, I am glad to see you exercising a lot,
Hey, Anne, great keeping up on your part! Thanks for sharing.
After two weeks of vacation I am back on the wagon, doing my little workouts every day. Missed it. Weird, hm?
For inspiration, there are two crossfit documentaries on netflix (at least in my country), one is "fittest on earth" and the other is "Froning, the fittest man in history " (that also is on you tube). Even though those are pro athletes, I just love their unbending dedication and willingness to suffer (which I do not have to that extent, haha!)
teriyake. Thank you and thank you for sharing too! I think after vacation little routines are missed.
I walked a lot today.
I've been lifting and bending, unpacking and putting things away.
I lost a pound this week.
I walked for exercise today.
I took a long walk today.
rocket63, I wish you the best. You can always come here to vent.
No, anne627 it's been all work work work. That's how I keep my mind busy and don't think about anything else. I'm not very keen on "gogos" (Psicologist etc.). I am probably a much stronger person now. It's just sometimes you get lost
rocket63, it must be so hard for you since your husband died. I hope you can remain sober and will find happy days in your life. Have you tried a support group with others who lost a spouse?
Hello! it helps to see that other people go through the same issues. After last weekend I have also decided to get sober (at least until christmas). After I sort that out see what I can do about sleeping. Yes Anne it's all under medical prescription . Since my husband's sudden death almost 3 years ago I haven't been able to sleep normally. Have you read a man in the dark by Paul Auster? well, that's me. All night with wide open eyes just to fall asleep at dawn when I have to get up. Amazing human nature and how we keep going on.
I know I can't force her, but I really am concerned about her.
My family and I are doing a challenge. Who can lose the most weight before New Year's? It's mainly going to be between me and my sister. My dad only needs to lose ten more pounds to weigh what he should. My mom doesn't seem to have that self-motivation. I'm trying to get her on the bandwagon. She is borderline diabetic, and she doesn't seem to understand that I'm concerned about her health. She can't stay away from sweets. Today, she actually ate semi-healthy. She'll eat a little healthier now that we're trying to eat at home more.
It will be interesting to see how much you lost as a family by New Year's. You mom has to want to lose weight to achieve it. You can't force anyone to do it.
Now my celebrating is over and I will seriously get back to watching what I eat.

Oh man this is a good thread...I just changed my diet and started exercising to help myself get sober from alcohol (never did drugs) and my dad got diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer at 58 and my mom died 2 years ago at 46 so it was a huge wake up call to get my s**t together and not follow the same destructive paths they took. I've got a planner and tracker on me at all times. Only 3 days sober but already feeling loads better!!! Happy to help motivate others üòäüëäü誂ù§Ô∏è
So sorry that your mom died and your dad has cancer. That is a lot to deal with. I am glad you are sober and are seeking ways to be healthy.
Anne, hope your chinese food was good!
I was wondering, does anyone know what sports regime the band follows?? Flea has run marathons, that I know, but being on the road so much must be tough, and still they look very much in shape.
Thanks, teriyake, the Chinese food was good!
I am going to eat steamed Chinese today.
Any good recommendations for exercising? I had an accident a few years ago which left me with constant pain that only gets worse whenever I start doing a lot of exercise like running. Diet suggestions are welcome too
jorge16, have you asked your doctor to recommend which exercises could benefit you? I swim for exercise and find it helps my joints when they hurt.
Jorge, I would also recommend to consult with your doctor/physical Therapist/osteopath. In addition, it might be helpful to spend money on a few personal training sessions, in order to make sure you do the exercises you can do in a correct form right off the bat. I had PT as a birthday present from my husband last year, and it was pretty great. At first, very intimidating - it was my husband's crossfit coach, and he is just a square muscle guy, but he was extremely kind and gentle, and did not push me any further than I wanted to go (but he did push a bit, of course, motivating me) and knew a lot about the correct postures for excercises, and also offered dietary advice. I had three sessions spread out over three months, and he always provided me with a training plan for home, and followed up via e-mail. I would not go running as it is definitely a high impact training, maybe you can find something that is more gentle, like anne said, swimming, or look into supposedly "girly" stuff like Pilates which builds up muscle in a more gentle way.
I took a walk today.
Thanks Anne627. Precisely that might be the problem, working long hours and finishing too late. No time for exercise etc. I do leave my phne outside my room though. I'm doing a combination of melatonin and lorazepam at the moment and it seems to be starting to work. Looks like I will have to start the process all over again and come off it once my sleep pattern has return to normal. I sometimes manage to go for a walk with a friend at night and that helps a lot.
rocket63, lorazepam may be habit forming. Do you have a doctor's prescription and is your doctor monitoring you on it? Maybe just going for that walk at night may be better?
Hi,
nice to see you are active and trying for a healthy lifestyle.
I have never been a huge sports person...until probably 3 years ago, when I tried to weigh a parcel, and put it on the scales together with me. Then I thought "Sheet, the parcel is super heavy...". Duh, no, it wasn't the parcel. So I started doing a home workout from a site called bodyrock.tv (this site has changed a lot, it used to be a lot better in terms of usability) about three to four times a week. High Intensity Interval training, just 12-15 Minutes each time. I started off not being able to complete one push up. Over time I amped the frequency to five times a week, changed my body structure (more muscles...). My diet has been vegetarian for 21 years, so that is ok, and I have kept up with it for nearly three years now. Sometimes I switch HIIT training for Tennis in the summer, but overall I usually make it 4-5 times a week to work out. However, you cannot outtrain a bad diet, and I am still working on that (too much cheese and sweets). I pretty much cut out alcohol as well (nice side effect, if I have 1-2 glasses of wine now, I get super drunk). For me, routine is the key. Once I got into regular workout routine, after about three months, I started to miss them if I missed out. Good luck everyone on your journey!
teriyake, I agree that you can't out train a bad diet. Thanks for sharing your exercise workout.
Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum but also a huge RHCP fan. I am also interested in creating a lifestyle that is healthy and found that eating les sugar, cutting out wheat and ricehas helped me lose weight and maintain it off.
jazzy54, cutting carbs and sugar does help lose weight, but some are needed to be healthy. Welcome to The Diet and Exercise thread!
Hi jazzy54. I'm also new to the forum. From July 2015 until June 2016, I lost nearly 50 lbs by cutting starchy carbs and most grains as well as beer all week. I ate high protein (including beans and legumes as a source of complex carbs) and greens. On Saturdays, I ate/drank whatever I wanted. I walked 3-5 days/week and did 10-15 mins of core ab exercises on a stability ball. I have recently (as of July) gained back 10 lbs because I stopped my lifestyle makeover in July. Am just starting back up. Good luck to you on your lifestyle change!
'If you have to ask', First I 'threw away my television' and started 'road trippin' on my 'bicycle song', thru the 'backwoods' to 'behind the sun'.' By the way' I also went on a 'walkabout' and as I was 'walking down the road'.
funknchilisfan, sorry, this is in the wrong forum.
Fancy way of saying I cancelled my cable tv subscription and started cycling! Over a 1600km (1000 miles) in the last 5 months. Also a lot of walking!
Cheers
funknchilisfan, it sounds like you are getting a lot of walking and bike riding in. That is great!
I love running and eating from my garden! Although sometimes I do like to indulge in beer and pizza, but everything in moderation! Check out my blog at www.milesandmunchies.com Can't wait to see RHCP in 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nancyflock, I love fresh fruits and veggies, but don't have a garden. You are right about everything in moderation.
Hello everybody. I've been a few days on off. Any healthy recommendations for sleeping? I've tried many things just to go back to the sleeping tablets I stopped taking 6 months ago. I feel rather dissappointed with myself for that. Even so I only manage to sleep like 3 or 4 hours a day. I feel exhausted. Thanks.
rocket63, I read that sleeping pills eventually make it harder to sleep as they change your sleep patterns. They are also addicting. I also have trouble sleeping and I read that it is best to shut down all computers and phones several hours before going to sleep, don't eat or drink at least two hours before going to bed, try to wind down and relax before going to sleep.
Hi everyone! I'm new to the online community but have been a fan of RHCP since 1998, when Californication came out. It makes me happy to see so many people eating healthy & exercising - keep it up! It's a life long battle to form good habits but I think it's definitely worth it in the long run. I find that my most unhealthy habits stem from stress & anxiety about my life, so I'm trying to swap those out with healthier ways of coping (mediation, mindful yoga, etc.) RHCP has also helped me on this journey with their beautiful expressions & messages of self-care. Gotta love those guys! Hope to see them soon when they come by my city :-D
rahbjee, welcome to the RHCP community and to the Diet and Exercise thread. It is good that you are coping with stress in healthy ways. The RHCP do try to set an example of living healthy.
I cleaned the house today.
I am going for a walk soon.
I lost a pound this week.
I ate out in a seafood restaurant tonight.
I bought cut up veggies in Wegmans and then added broiled chicken cutlets and rice and made a sauce for it. It was good.
I swam in the pool today.
carolthescot, walking stairs is exercise, especially several times a day. Standing and cooking is some also.
I did forget to mention,I have stairs in the house so i'm up and down them several times a day-you could call that exercise.I also do all the cooking in the house and i'm on my feet doing that and pacing about too.Aye it all adds up in my book.I tire easily so that's more than enough exercise for me ;)
I have been on a diet for a few months, lost over 20 pounds. Not easy at all. My sister is pregnant, expecting in January so my goal, our deal was I told her you get fat, I will lose weight! Since I still am trying to lose weight can the damn RHCP store get some XXL shirts??
jason1978, the store doesn't sell larger size shirts? At the concerts you can get them. It's good that you lost over 20 lbs. Keep up the good work! Congratulations to your sister on her pregnancy.
I've never been any good at any form of exercise.Even at primary school i was always last when it came to races.I did however like skipping and liked hockey and rounders at my secondary school. These days however i don't exercise at all other than stretch my arms in the air when yawning ha ha ha.
As for diet-well i was diagnosed being a diabetic last year so i need to watch what I eat and must say low calorie stuff isn't so bad as what people might think.
With me getting chemo earlier in the year too it's knocked my taste and smell out.I can taste most fruits and some veg but other than that it's more a miss than a hit. It's frustrating more than anything as the foods i use to like taste completely different now.Hopefully through time these 2 senses will get stronger again (fingers crossed)
carolthescot, I think that chemo can change your system where foods would have a different taste. I wish you the best of health and hope it worked for you. I have a kidney transplant for 22 years and I gained a lot of weight from the immunosuppressants I must take every day. I also have type 2 from them. I swim for exercise and it helps. I am on Weight Watchers also. Try to find an exercise you would like, perhaps dancing, yoga?
I walked today for exercise.
I took a walk today.
I went food shopping today.
I went to the pool again today.
I walked in the mall today.
I went swimming again today.
I swam in the pool today.
I went food shopping today.
I had fish for dinner tonight.
Now that my company has left, I have to get back to seriously eating healthy foods every day.
I am going to walk a lot today.
I walked on the boardwalk at the beach today.
I bought a lot of fresh fruit and veggies today.
I walked for exercise today.
armandorsales3, it is good that you are listening to your body and thinking of healthy eating. I am not sure what you meant by small meals here and there. I think the key to a successful healthy eating plan is to be consistent and not skip meals. It is good to eat small, but with enough protein and nutrients in your meals.
Just moved into an apartment out of the college dorms, and learning to budget and make food for myself, but trying to stay healthy. I'm making a first step to listening to my body, not getting full, but a satisfying amount. Also going for the snacking during the day, and small meals here and there.
What is the next step in keeping this up? I've been thinking about organization, such as a food diary, calorie counting, or just something to keep this a routine and a habit. Thanks for any help.
I walked a lot yesterday.
I swam a lot today in the pool.
My weight stayed the same this week.
I walked a lot today.
I walked in the mall today.
niandra, my joints feel so great after swimming. I love it!
I swam in the pool today.
I swam yesterday so that was great. I love the water and its easy on the joints.
I went food shopping today.
I walked this morning in a mall.
Organic is a very GREAT thing.. Its unfortunate we F*cked up the soil , and have to lables as such , BUT farmers markets have always been my Love affair with the earth .. lol <3
teresagracechef, I shop at Wegmans supermarket and they sell a lot of fresh good quality organic and non-organic food that is very good.
I am swimming in the pool today.
I made salmon for dinner tonight.
I walked a lot today.
HELLO ! Greetings All.
Am brand spanking new here. Seen Diet and Exercise. Big fan of it -- Proud to be a Chef. :D Organic, Vegetarian. Super food is by far my favorite to prepare. Ideally am looking to work with as Private Chef. But ATM just doing my thing nyc. (eh) but linking up with all the great peeps , that love what they do . FOOOOOOOOOOD! love it lol
teresagracechef, thanks for liking this thread. I do try to buy organic foods when I can.
I was away for a few days and now it is time to watch my weight more.
Gabistrider, it is good that exercise makes you feel better. I hope you keep it up.
Started working out 2 months ago. Before that I would get tired by simply walking for half an hour. Now I walk to my college for about 1 hour and I don't even lose my breath! People also started saying that I look like I've lost weight (which didn't happen at all) and I am so happy that I have more energy to do stuff. As for diet, I've always liked healthy stuff, so the only thing I did was to eat less. Fruits and vegetables always had a place in my meals.
Now I am looking for quick healthy recipes that don't cost too much. I am not really patient for cooking (I get too bored) but I can't afford going to restaurants everyday haha
I swam in the pool today.
I was surprised that I lost several pounds this week at Weight Watchers.
I swam in the pool today.
Eating out is my downfall Anne, I know I an make healthier choices, but if I am paying $$$ I want something gorgeous to eat not something I can make at home. BUT having said that I need to hop back on the healthy eating wagon. that way if I go out and splurge on Chinese ( which I LOVE) I will not feel so bad.
I have the same problem, niandra. I gain water weight from salty foods like Chinese food. I like to eat different things when I eat out that I don't make at home. At home I try to cook healthy, low fat and low salt foods. Tonight I made pork roast, butternut squash and broccoli (not my favorite veggie).
I am going out to dinner and plan to eat healthy.
Check out Dr Gundry at Amazon.com and get a used book of his for 2 bucks, and it will change your life
Thanks for the information, drh4sc.
I swam in the pool again today.
I went to the pool today. I swam a lot today.
I think I sam eating out too much lately.
I had salad and fish for dinner out tonight.
Eat fat get thin by Dr. Hyman. Its a lifesaver!
Thanks for the recommendation, michaelcraig77.
I swam today for exercise.
I have used a website called PlateJoy to help me with my eating habits. The food is extremely healthy and it helps keep your food waster down. You tell it how many calories you want to eat and how many meals you want to prepare per day and per week (snacks too) and it creates a shopping list and recipes for you. I've been using it for the past month and have been able to stay right on track with my weight management. I just spent the past 6 months working on losing weight and have lost about 50 pounds at this point.
heavenywilliams, thanks for the website information. I will check this one out.
I gave up cigarettes and hash by going cold turkey but replaced it with baking so put on quite a bit of weight I tried a couple of diets but just kept counting down to when i could eat the "forbidden fruit" again so now I am trying clean eating so I can find healthy alternatives to the bacon and egg sandwiches I would miss it's only my first day so i am extremely optimistic and prepared I've also started yoga again after 5 years, nowhere near as flexible as I was,and Zumba
smithj8, it is great that you gave up cigarettes and hash and are eating clean healthy food. Good luck with your new diet and exercise plan
Hello smithj8. I gave up some medication I was taking and also put some weight on. I find exercise is the best help both to control my weight and to keep me away from pills. Be strong. Good luck.
Hello Smithj 8,
The most important thing about yoga is body awareness. I give chair yoga to old people. They are also not so flexible. It doesn' t matter. And yoga is of course much more then doing exercises for your body.....it' s for your whole system. The thing I like (to teach) most is breathing excersises. My favourite is the Ujjayi breathing. And doing excercises while breathing in Ujjayi. Then yoga becomes a meditation and it really doesn' t matter how difficult the excercises are. The more simple, the little you think and the better yoga becomes a meditation.......
Sorry If this is to much information. It ' s a bit of a passion of mine ;-)
I'm starting to exercise and to eat healtier, it's hard guys! I can only think about pizzas
Yes it is hard, ka7 come.
gotta love some pizzzas
I think a high carb low fat vegan diet is the best for your health in the long term!
I try to eat low carb and a diet balanced with veggies, fruit, dairy, meat or poultry.
I walked a lot today.
watermelons, the bread thing is hard to do. I feel hungry when I try to cut out bread completely.
Hey guys, I just wrapped up another 8 week "Whole Life Challenge" session. Think they are launching again in the fall. I lost 35 pounds on it now and it feels very sustainable. The main site is Wholelifechallenge.com. Broad strokes of the diet is to cut out sugar, flour, processed meats, and dairy. Getting over not having sugar and bread for 8 weeks was a pretty spectacular transformation. Even when the challenge was over and I added those things back into my diet, I did it considerably less frequently after the challenge. It was like hitting a reset button on my cravings. Worth a look! Oh, and Dark Necessities is my jam.
The bread thing is so difficult. I love a sandwich! I've been trying to move on to the gluten free stuff to get my bread fix without all the bread-belly but the texture is just dreadful.
kiffvh, that sounds like a hard diet to stick with. Losing 35 lbs. in 8 weeks is great!
Hi Kiffvh, I just checked out the web page you referred to. It looks pretty good.
That sounds like a good way to challenge myself, along with swimming it should work well. Did the lack of carbs decrease your energy levels?
Running is one of my favorite things to do. "Readymade" and "Hump De Bump" have great notes that help me stay motivated while running.e
haleystrasser, it is good that you like running, as it is great exercise.
I just started running again recently. The hardest part is getting out the front door. Same as Niandra above, Chinese food is totally my weakness. And pizza. God I love pizza. I cut milk, butter, and cheese out of my diet a while ago, though, and that has made a massive difference for me.
watermelons, it is good that you are exercising. I do eat dairy, but not too much. I eat a slice or two of cheese a day.
I had salad for lunch today.

Ive been on this board for years, never saw this thread before. I want to share my recent experience with you all to encourage you in your endeavors. I have been working hard the past year to make some strides in my personal health, and I want to say, its worth it guys! Food is so important, getting that right will unlock the energy and desire to be more active! I through a number of different ways, I'm finally back to a weight i haven't been at in 10+ years and am in control of eating! Keep it up!
chaosk, It is great that you are taking control of your health and that you are at a good weight now. It does take control of eating, which is the hard part for me.
I walked a lot today.
Walking is great exercise, I just have to make time to do it, also not to melt.
melt? I guess you live where it is very hot now.
I took a walk today.
I am going food shopping today and will get plenty of walking in at Wegmans.
Chinese is my weakness! I could eat it daily. But everything in moderation. Enjoy you birthday!
I'm going to start walking again, the weathers nice and there's some nice trials nearby. Even if I walked around the block a few times it's a start. I need to get a good pair of shoes.
niandra, I do walk and swim for exercise, but take a lot of meds that make me gain weight too. I love Chinese too.
hey looking for a friend from the 90s a few kinda lol ect admin ect my names angie / angeline rosemarie i lived in e.lansing mi in the early 90s ect not looking for anything but who i knew my bday is june 25 1980 ect oh well lol not sure if he remembers but i remember now thanks for the wake up
Me too Anne. I did so well, then work got stressful. But there is healthy options for stress eating. The tour is a good reason for me to lose some because I want to meet folks and not feel bad about myself, lol
Yes, I just had Chinese food. I will be eating out the next few days celebrating my birthday.
I have to seriously start eating healthy again. It is hard to do while you are away from home.
Love it!!
You don't have to be on a diet to post on this thread. Feel free to discuss ways you eat healthy or exercise.
Quit cigarettes, cut down on alcohol, when cooking fry with coconut oil , drink green tea instead of coffee, cut your food portions down, eat more vegetables and most importantly throw away your microwave and you will live longer and you will be happier in the long run.
If you can exercise two/three times a week even if you just do sit ups and press ups you will feel a lot better.
nothing red sheep, medicinal vegetable biting and a lot of physical training. from Monday to Friday
