Just read part of the post from Anthony. Yes, this is writing into the ether…but if anywhere, this is the place to share my Red Hots story. Did not like them too much in the late 80’s/early 90’s, when guys my age were jumping around, getting tattoos and acting all tribal. It seemed like the Red Hots were the soundtrack to guys acting like irreverent cavemen. Meanwhile I was trying to take on feminism, not shaving, getting retro into 60’s folk music and catching the last gasps of the Grateful Dead touring. Fast forward to 2005. One of my middle school students burned me a copy of Californication. I was going through a different revival this time-a late bloomer, joining my feminine power and accepting my outer beauty-shaking my hips to Parallel Universe and also enjoying the cathartic calls of the band. I read Anthony’s book and then started to explore the albums and website, became fan of the week for what seemed a month. I took my sweet time as usual and missed the SA tour. Thankfully they have risen from the ashes yet again and are out sharing their art. When I found out they had played an unannounced show in Nevada City and I missed it, I was pretty crushed. That place means a lot to me and to think of them playing there blows my mind. I’m getting over it, looking forward to some northern California shows. Grateful for their ever-growing, ever-expanding spirits and love they give. xoxoxoxo Ahbra
