Tonight was the gig in Stockholm, a lovely hard digging experience, where we did all we could to let go of petty earthly concerns and let the spirits move us. A technical difficulty here, a sound problem there, but nothing in the face of the yearning for transcendence. we rocked, and it was fun to play ‘search and destroy’, it has been many a moon since i felt the metal bass strings grinding against my finger bones in that particular order. motherfucker I love iggy. i hope you guys are putting in your hours listening to ‘fun house’ and not letting your life dribble away without it. come on, there has never been a rock record made in the history of humanity that grooves harder than ‘fun house’.
Being in sweden, there were only two choices i could think of for film watching this evening. either a bergman movie, most likely ‘fanny and alexander’ though the time commitment for that one is epic and an all nighter, worth every second but i long to get some sunlight tomorrow, one of the rare full days off we have had in some time. So the other logical choice was ‘my life as a dog’ by lasse halstrom which is what i rolled with. Ahh, it never disappoints, not till the last tear rolls down my cheek when Ingemar Joanneson whups Floyd Patterson, and little Ingemar is able to let go and open his heart do I turn away from the stellar performance by anton glanzelius. damn, life is an emotional thing and i relate to that little ingemar so sweetly. he makes me feel like i have someone like me in the world. that’s the best thing any kind of art can do, help us not to feel alone. thank you all of you who made ‘my life as a dog’ happen it’s so beautiful. sweden. pippi long stocking and don’t forget that wild ass movie that tarkovsky made in sweden either that one is a straight rocker too.
water will be drank, poached eggs will be eaten, coffee will be loved…….grateful to be in scandanavia once again, never did i dream as a child roaming the streets of l.a. that i would get to do this see this, feel all this stuff from playing music. peace and love to all.
